THINKING OF JOINING ??

Membership is not free, but you are welcome to attend up to three walks or socials before deciding to join.

Your membership subscription will go towards supporting an important charity and offer a range of personal benefits.  Not only will you be able to walk with our group for free, but also any Ramblers group (including 20s, 30s and 40s groups) anywhere in the country.  You will be covered by our Public Liability Insurance on our walks, receive the Walk magazine, obtain discretionary discounts at many outdoor retailers and a host of other sundry benefits. See the main Ramblers website for full details.

Current rates are £35.85 a year to join (cheaper for concessions / joint membership) and to find out the benefits of joining simply click here and follow the instructions.  A range of joining options are available below. When taking out membership please ensure that you select Barnsley and Penistone Ramblers (our parent group).

Free Trial

We do not expect people to join the Ramblers before they have come along to see if they like what we do, therefore we offer you the opportunity to attend any three events (walks or socials) before making a decision – after three events you’ll have made so many new friends you won’t want to leave us!

If you are nervous about coming for the first time, or would just like to touch base, please use the contact information on the relevant event that you would like to go on, or drop us an email.

Free Trial    The free trial is quite simple:

1. Turn up on any of the walks or socials that take your fancy on our events page. Generally you do not need to book onto a walk. All walks are free unless stated otherwise.

2. You can attend up to three walks OR socials. There is no time limit on this.

3. After your free trial, and if you like us, we do expect you to join by any of the methods on our join page.

Join By Credit Card   The fastest and easiest way to pay. Take out standard or concessionary rate single or joint membership.

Please remember that the Barnsley Walking Group is entirely not-for-profit and run by unpaid volunteers.
